March Construction holds an annual Safety Stand-Down in honor of OSHA National Fall Prevention Week. Work is paused to remind employees of jobsite hazards and safety awareness.
Safety meetings this year were held at:
– RiverBend District in Harrison, NJ
– River Park, Whippany, NJ
– & The Enclave at Raritan, Flemington, NJ
The March safety team includes Leila Stephan, Safety Coordinator and Frank Brady, Safety Director.
Ladder Use Precautions:
- Inspect the ladder before each use for damage and duty rating.
- Position your ladder on level, solid footing.
- Maintain 3-Point Contact with the ladder at all times, do not use the top step/rung of the ladder, and have a co-worker hold the ladder and spot you.
Scaffold Use Precautions:
- Always set the scaffold on a level, solid base with base plates.
- Use proper fall protection on all scaffolds 10ft or higher.
- Always inspect scaffolding before use.
Aerial Lift Precautions:
- Get Trained: Every lift operator must be trained by a qualified person experienced with the model of lift being used.
- Wear a full body harness when using lifts.
- Check for overhead power lines and ask if lines have been de-energized. Stay a minimum of 10 feet away from all power lines unless you are a qualified electrical worker.
Safe Use of Harnesses:
- Wear a harness with straps around the trunk and thighs. These deliver stopping force across your entire body.
- Always inspect your harness for damages before use and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Ensure your harness is fitted and fastened correctly. Make sure that you are securely connected to an anchor point.
