Let's Go! March Makes Groundbreaking Progress
Wayne, NJ – Everyone came together at 125 Pompton Plains Crossroad to witness the groundbreaking of a transformative new 70,000 square foot warehouse facility. Attendees included community leaders, the team from March Construction, and Wayne residents.
Lou March, developer and owner of March Construction, expressed his enthusiasm:
“Fired up about today,” Lou began, emphasizing the comprehensive planning and community effort that has driven the project to this point.
"We're going to create full-time jobs," Lou continued, highlighting the significant employment opportunities stemming from the development.
The new facility is notable for its commitment to sustainable practices, including full solar panel coverage on the roof, EV chargers, and LED lights with motion sensors.
Economic Impact
Mayor Vergano of Wayne also spoke at the event, underscoring the positive changes the March family has brought to the town.
"Any product that the March family builds, [is] certainly an aesthetically pleasing product and a quality product," the Mayor explained, acknowledging the economic benefits such as increased tax revenue and enhanced property values.
“This is really going to improve this neighborhood,” he added.
The project, with financing secured through Kearny Bank and arranged by G.S. Wilcox & Co., is a testament to the confidence and investment in Wayne’s future.
Environmental and Community Considerations
The project not only aims to modernize but also to enrich the local environment. Lou detailed the extensive landscaping plans:
“We’re planting over 200 trees and adding a full irrigation system to ensure this becomes the best-landscaped industrial site in New Jersey.”
Lou March acknowledged the removal of 77 trees due to construction but highlighted their commitment to environmental restoration by planting 227 trees—exceeding the 92 trees required by regulations.
This effort, along with the addition of 300 shrubs and 105 grasses, ensures that the development not only replaces but significantly expands the greenery in the area.
Addressing community concerns about traffic, Lou noted, "We're closing the egress on Farmingdale. We put our truck entrance on the other side of the site, so there will be no trucks on Farmingdale, coming or going."
This thoughtful planning speaks to March’s commitment to maintain balance within the community.
Overcoming Challenges with a Focus on Quality
"Right now, there's no groundwater infrastructure on the entire site... [So,] we're taking this site and bringing up the NJDEP standards."
March Construction, known for its close ties and contributions to the local community, faced numerous hurdles during the planning stages.
"We cleaned up a pretty rough site; The project was on death's door three times, really because of the NJDEP... Bohler and James and the whole team stepped up and got us approved, got us our DEP permits."
March appreciates the resilience and expertise of our team, including key partners like Bohler Engineering and ADG Architects.
A Commitment to Excellence
As the warehouse takes shape, with its strategic location near Route 23 and Route 202, its impact will align with the new standards for industrial development in New Jersey, integrating community feedback, environmental stewardship, and modern building practices.
Everyone involved is very excited about delivering a project that aligns with both economic progress and environmental sustainability.
"If you're here, you took a part in getting us here. So thank you for that," - Lou March
