Before demolition begins and construction breaks ground, the future home of Plaza Greene Apartments served a different purpose: helping local first responders sharpen lifesaving skills.
At 22-01 Fair Lawn Avenue in Fair Lawn, the vacant buildings slated for redevelopment were transformed into realistic training environments for the Fair Lawn Fire Department and local EMS teams.

In a collaborative effort, March Construction, alongside developers Sterling Properties and Danbro Properties, volunteered the site and prepared spaces so emergency personnel could conduct hands-on rescue scenarios before the buildings are demolished.
Realistic Emergency Simulations

Inside the former Wells Fargo Bank, Fair Lawn EMS teams conducted a staged disaster response exercise involving mock victims. The scenario allowed responders to practice triage, coordination, and emergency medical treatment in a realistic environment.

Fair Lawn Firefighters moved into the former Dollar Tree building for a live fire simulation.

Crews trained on breaching walls to advance hose lines, navigating interior obstacles, and reaching a simulated fire on the second floor.

The operation then moved to the rooftop, where ladder trucks elevated firefighters above the structure.

Crews opened the roof and completed ventilation and suppression exercises designed to mirror real emergency conditions.

Supporting the Community Before Breaking Ground

Members of the March team were onsite throughout the training, including Safety Director Frank Brady, Project Manager Raven Lopez, and Marketing Manager Briana Samman, who documented the evening’s events alongside several first responders.
While Plaza Greene will soon bring new housing, retail, and economic activity to Fair Lawn, the site first delivered something equally valuable: a place for first responders to prepare for emergencies that protect the community every day.
