The design and construction of retail stores and commercial buildings convey a brand image as well as serve a practical purpose. The architecture, layout, materials, details, quality—they all send a message, instill a feeling, impart an experience.

Selecting the right company to design/build, manage construction, or act as general contractor can make or break a retail/commercial development project.

At March Associates, we know how to plan, design, and construct retail and commercial buildings. We have developed hundreds of standalone retail stores, “big box” stores, supermarkets, shopping centers, mixed-use commercial properties, and office buildings.

We create spaces that engage customers and employees, as well as provide efficient operations.

Shopping Center & Mall Development & Construction

If a contractor can build one store, building many together in a shopping center or mall shouldn’t be a problem, right? Not necessarily.

The complexity of developing shopping centers and malls is greater than the sum of constructing its individual stores. The designer and general contractor have to be experts on local codes and permitting, experienced with multi-tenant real estate development, and able to design/build in a way that satisfies both individual store requirements and an overall uniform look for the property.

March Associates has constructed numerous shopping centers, including Gateway 2 in Brooklyn, New York, Clark Commons in Clark, New Jersey, Hillsborough Promenade in Hillsborough, New Jersey and Clifton Commons in Clifton, New Jersey.

Supermarket Development and Construction

Customer-friendly brand image, space utilization, and utility infrastructure are all key elements in the design and construction of supermarkets and grocery stores.

March Associates knows its way around the aisles of a supermarket. We’ve built dozens of high-quality grocery stores for some of the most recognizable brands in New York City, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania—including ShopRite, Stop & Shop, Wegmans, and Whole Foods.
